Ajith joined the department in 1985 and was the former Head of Department. His research areas are on triple bottom line approach for the Chemical & Process industry, integrated solid waste management, anaerobic digestion systems, ICT in solid and hazardous waste management and process industry developments in Sri Lanka .

Research Interests:

  • Process Industry - Developing environmentally friendly technologies for Sri Lanka, Appropriate technologies etc.
  • Energy Efficiency and Conservation techniques for Process Industries, Renewable Energy Systems
  • Process modifications and optimisation techniques to maximize yields and resource usage.
  • Solid Waste Management and Waste to Energy Systems
  • Food processing systems
